We can all remember the figure of Joe the Plumber in the last election cycle–the ordinary Joe who wanted America to be a better place, wanted to make money to support his family, and wanted government to stay out of his life (all good goals, indeed). Candidate Obama seemed out of touch, like his head was in the clouds and he could not understand the plight of the common man. Has he learned anything after a year in office? A clear “No” is in order based on this story.
Turns out that Obama has no idea what the common man is all about. And while I am not a fisherman myself, I do have fond memories of visiting my grandparents at the lake and seeing what I caught each summer. Casting aside the economic benefits of fishing, it seems that the current administration does not even appreciate the social and recreational benefits either. It appears that Obama is more aloof than before–if that is possible.
