Prayer of St. Gianna:
Jesus, I promise You to submit myself to all that You permit to befall me,
make me only know Your will.
My most sweet Jesus, infinitely merciful God, most tender Father of souls,
and in a particular way of the most weak, most miserable, most infirm
which You carry with special tenderness between Your divine arms,
I come to You to ask You, through the love and merits of Your Sacred Heart,
the grace to comprehend and to do always Your holy will,
the grace to confide in You,
the grace to rest securely through time and eternity in Your loving divine arms.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t at least mention St. Gianna Beretta Molla’s feast day today. She is a personal favorite of mine, and we invoke her intercession each evening as we put our daughter to bed. St. Gianna is a wonderful example of the selfless love we are to have for others, especially the most vulnerable among us. A woman who had “everything” according to today’s standards–education, a good family, a comfortable life–gave it all up at the tender age of 39 for the sake of her unborn child. What a selfless act. What a wonderful saint.
St. Gianna, pray for us.
